Emilia Restaurants

An italian restaurant chain targeting tourists - 2025

The client needed a digital platform for Mario & Luigi’s Brothers’ Trattoria, a restaurant targeting international tourists. The goal was to build an approachable online presence that balances traditional Emilian cuisine with a pop aesthetic. The website had to convey an anti-snob, welcoming atmosphere, reassuring travelers looking for authentic comfort food while eliminating the cultural anxiety often associated with gourmet dining.

The main creative hurdle was managing the tension between cultural clichés and real culinary quality. Instead of avoiding popular stereotypes, the design strategy used them as an emotional bridge to connect with the audience. Strategically, we had to combine oil-painting textures with a bold, fast-food-inspired layout. We resolved this by placing painterly visuals next to heavy typography, creating an engaging user experience that communicates both artistic care and global efficiency.

We delivered a responsive WordPress website featuring custom child theme integration and smart user features. The platform includes a streamlined booking engine built with Contact Form 7, which minimizes booking friction and language barriers. Key sections like “Nonna’s rules” and “Our cousins’ parties” successfully humanized the brand. Ultimately, the fast loading speed and intuitive user interface transformed the digital experience into a highly effective tool that drives table reservations.
